I've been learning how to sew. Remember?
Well, this t-shirt was actually pretty easy once I got all the right materials. The fabric and t-shirt were easily chosen. The iron-on webbing and the stabilizer required for this project were a little more difficult. Of course, if I had been willing to ask for help from the store clerk, I might have marched out with the right things the first time around. Instead, it took me three trips to the craft store and one night of sewing to create this simple shirt.
But I am sooooooooooooo proud of myself. I love wearing this shirt. Because I made it! I'm so very crafty!
(P.S. The book I'm using to create my projects and learn to use my sewing machine is called Stitch by Stitch by Deborah Moebes. I highly recommend it if you are a novice sewer like me.)

Beautiful! I will definitely give applique a try over Christmas break.
Love it! You did a great job!
I've been thinking about you lately since I've been sewing too and meaning to send you some photos. I made the hotpads and three sweater hats from Amanda Blake Soule's _Handmade Home_. Give the hats a try...they come together SO easily. A little more challenging has been a cozy fleece blanket for Vee (the fabric is so cloud-like that I'm finding it hard to sew straight seams). Now I'm inspired by your applique...
One more thing...the eye pillows in Handmade Home were really easy too...and they'll serve as nice Christmas gifts :)
I'd love to see the photos of your pieces. I'll have to give the hats a try. Do they use old sweaters? I have some old sweaters to toss out but would love to recycle them! As for straight seams, I find it hard to sew straight ones all the time!
I'll try to get to the photos soon... As for the hats, yes, they use old wool sweaters that you felt beforehand; I really think other materials would work as well, though.
